Delhi Police issued traffic advisory
The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a travel advisory ahead of the marathon to be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium on Sunday. According to the advisory, the ‘Toughman Half Marathon’ will be held at the JLN Stadium on Sunday in which around 5,000 people from Delhi are expected to participate in three categories – 21 km, 10 km and five km. It said that the traffic route on Bhishma Pitamah Marg, Lodhi Road, Maxmuller Marg, Maharshi Raman Marg, Archbishop Marg, JLN Road, 2nd and 4th Avenue Road and Mathura Road has been regulated/diverted as per the need from 6 am to 8.30 am on Sunday.

It said that passengers are requested to cooperate and avoid these roads if possible and use public transport to reach their destination. The advisory said that those who are going towards ISBT / railway station / airport are advised to leave well in advance and plan their journey carefully. Let us tell you that the marathon will be organized at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday. This event will be played as a qualifying meet for the Paris Olympics.
Why is the marathon being held?
Let us tell you that Thonakal Gopi, the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal in the Asian Marathon Championship in 2017, will challenge in the men’s match. Let us tell you that three other Indians including Gopi participated in the men’s marathon in the Rio Olympics held in 2016. During this time he was ranked 25th. Let us tell you that no Indian runner qualified for the marathon in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. At the same time, Srinu Bugatha and Anish Thapa, who left Gopi T behind in the Indian men’s category in the marathon held last month, will also participate in the marathon to be held in New Delhi.
