New Delhi. Elections for the post of Vice President were held on Saturday. In which NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar was declared the winner. Dhankhar defeated United Opposition’s candidate Margaret Alva in the Vice Presidential election by a huge margin. Jagdeep Dhankhar will be the 14th Vice President of the country. He will take oath as the Vice President on August 11. On the other hand, opposition leaders including President Draupadi Murmu, PM Narendra Modi congratulated Jagdeep Dhankhar after winning the Vice Presidential election. Margaret Alva also congratulated Jagdeep Dhankhar on winning the Vice Presidential election. But after being defeated in the Vice Presidential election, Margaret Alva also slammed the opposition parties fiercely.
Alva, while blaming the opposition parties for the defeat in the Vice Presidential election, said that some opposition parties have supported the NDA candidate. Let us inform that NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar defeated the opposition candidate Alva by a huge margin. While Dhankhar got 528 votes, the opposition candidate Alva got only 182 votes. In the first tweet, he congratulated NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar on winning the Vice Presidential election.
In another tweet, Alva took a dig at the opposition parties after the election results were out, writing, this election was an opportunity for the opposition to work together, leave the past behind and build trust between each other. Unfortunately, some opposition parties directly or indirectly supported the BJP in an attempt to derail the idea of a united opposition.

Let us inform that 725 MPs voted in the election of the Vice President. About 93 percent of the MPs cast their votes in the voting, while 55 MPs did not vote. Of these 55 absent MPs, 34 were from TMC, 2 each from BJP-SP and Shiv Sena and one from BSP.
