Here the police have arrested a robber bride who fled from her husband’s house after marriage with gold and silver jewellery. The police have detained the bride involved in the incident as well as two brokers of her gang. This gang has cheated many people before and this time they targeted a person from Bundi.
Fraudulent marriages and forgery
The bride Ritu Verma is from Indore in Madhya Pradesh. She got married to Mahavir Sharma, a resident of Khatiyadi in Bundi, on February 14 last year. The brokers behind this marriage were Sapna Chawre and Lakhan, who lured Mahavir into marriage for Rs 2,20,000. After marriage, Mahavir was confident that his family would be happy, but his happiness could not last long.
Dreams shattered: The bride ran away on the fifth day!
Mahavir Sharma was very happy after the marriage, but his happiness vanished on the fifth day of the marriage. On this day, Ritu Verma collected the gold and silver jewellery kept in the house and quietly ran away from her in-laws’ house. When Mahavir realized that he had been cheated, he immediately reached the police station and lodged a report. The police have registered a case and started searching for the bride and her fellow brokers.
The gang of robber brides and their cunningness
Such incidents are not new in Rajasthan. A whole gang of looteri dulhans keeps looking for elderly bachelors. These people first take a huge amount of money from them on the pretext of marriage and then run away from the house with jewelry and other valuables just a few days after the marriage. In such cases, along with women, some brokers are also involved, who execute the entire plan of fraud.
Police success and arrest of criminals
It is a big success for Bundi police that they have arrested the members of this gang. In this operation led by Raithal police station officer Surjeet Singh, two brokers Sapna Chavre and Lakhan were also taken into custody along with the looteri dulhan Ritu Verma. Police is now interrogating him so that other members of this gang and their activities can also be traced.
