The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch new cars apart from launching new updated versions of its existing cars. According to reports, the company is working on its 6 new cars which include hatchback, sedan, SUV and electric car.
Here we are talking about Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car, about the launch of which the news market has become hot in the auto sector. The company can introduce its electric car by the end of this year, which is being prepared in collaboration with Toyota.
According to reports, this electric car from Maruti Suzuki has been codenamed YY8 which will be a mid-size SUV and its design will be similar to the company’s Brezza but its length and width can be bigger than the Hyundai Creta.
Maruti Suzuki YY8 can be launched with the option of 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive. In which information about giving a wheelbase of 2700 mm has been revealed. According to reports, the company will launch 2 wheel drive of this electric SUV in the domestic and 4 wheel drive in the international market.
According to reports, this electric SUV YY8 will be powered by a 48 KWh capacity lithium-ion battery pack, coupled with a 318 hp power-generating motor. This variant of this SUV will be able to give a range of more than 400 km in a single charge.
Apart from this, its second variant can get a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 59 kWh, with which the power generating motor of 170 hp will be paired. Through this battery pack, this car can get a range of more than 500 km in a single charge.
Talking about the price, Maruti is known for its cheap cars and according to reports, the company can launch its first electric car in the market with a starting price of Rs 13 to 15 lakhs.
The company has not yet made any official announcement regarding the launch of this car but the company can present it in the festive season of Diwali. After launch, the Maruti Suzuki YY8 is set to compete with cars like the MG ZS EV, an electric car from MG Motors, and the Nexon EV from Tata Motors.
