Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest car maker, will recall 2,555 Alto K10 vehicles for a suspected defect in the steering gear box assembly. Maruti said in an exchange filing that the defect in rare cases may affect the drivability of the car. Moneycontrol reports As an abundance of caution, customers of the affected cars are advised not to drive or use the car until the part is replaced. The Alto K10 has long dominated the sales charts in the Indian market.
Car will be repaired for free
According to the report, the country’s largest carmaker said that the affected car owners will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki authorised dealer workshops for inspection and replacement of the part, which will be free of cost. In March, Maruti Suzuki had announced the recall of 11,851 units of the Baleno and 4,190 units of the WagonR manufactured between July 30, 2019 and November 1, 2019. Maruti Suzuki had then said that a potential problem had been identified in a component of the fuel pump motor, which could result in engine shutdown or engine starting problems in rare cases.
