Glenn Maxwell bowled the first over of the innings for RCB. On the very first ball of this over, he dismissed Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gaikwad could not even open his account. It has happened after 15 years that a spinner for RCB has taken a wicket on the very first ball of the innings. Earlier in the year 2009, in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Kevin Pietersen had taken the wicket of Brendon McCullum. Then Virat Kohli caught his catch.

Batting first, RCB team has scored 218 runs. The opening pair of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis gave a great start for the team. Both these players laid the foundation of a big score for the team. Kohli scored 47 and du Plessis scored 54 runs. Rajat Patidar scored 41 runs. Cameron Green was not out till the end. He scored 38 runs. No bowler from CSK could leave any impact.
