Mahindra took a big leap
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) vehicle sales grew 17 per cent year-on-year to 71,682 units in May. In the same month last year, the company had supplied 61,415 vehicles to distributors. Mumbai-headquartered company M&M said in a statement on Saturday that its sales in the passenger vehicle segment in the domestic market grew 31 per cent to 43,218 units as against 32,886 units in May last year. The company’s vehicle exports grew two per cent to 2,671 units in May as against 2,616 units in the same month last year. Mahindra’s Agricultural Equipment Segment (FES) tractor sales grew nine per cent to 37,109 units in May as against 34,126 units in May 2023.
Maruti’s Alto and S-Preso sales declined
Maruti Suzuki India’s (MSI) vehicle sales declined by 2 percent year-on-year to 1,74,551 units in May. In the same month last year, the company had supplied 1,78,083 vehicles to distributors. MSI said in a statement on Saturday that its sales in the passenger vehicle segment in the domestic market increased slightly to 1,44,002 units from 1,43,708 units in May last year. Sales of the company’s small cars like Alto and S-Preso declined to 9,902 units in May from 12,236 units in May last year. Sales of compact cars – Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and Wagon R also declined to 68,206 units in May, from 71,419 units in the same month last year. Sales of multi-utility vehicles – Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, S-Cross and XL6 – increased to 54,204 units in May from 46,243 units in May, 2023.
Hyundai sales rise 7% in May
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) vehicle sales in May rose 7 percent year-on-year to 63,551 units. The company sold 59,601 vehicles in the same month last year. The company’s domestic wholesale sales rose 1 percent to 49,151 units in May from 48,601 units in May last year. The company said in a statement on Saturday that vehicle exports grew 31 percent to 14,400 units in May from 11,000 units in May last year.
Kia India sales rise
Kia India’s vehicle sales grew 4 percent year-on-year to 19,500 units in May. The company said this in a statement on Saturday. In the same month last year, the company sold 18,766 vehicles. Kia India Senior Vice President and Head (Sales and Marketing) Hardeep Singh Brar said, “So far this year, we have been aggressive in introducing new competitive versions of our models, which has contributed significantly to our sales.” He said that with a strong network expansion strategy, the company will continue to grow in the rest of the year and will soon cross the milestone of 10 lakh units domestic sales.
Tata Motors sales increased
Tata Motors’ vehicle sales in May grew by 2 percent year-on-year to 76,766 units. In the same month last year, the company had supplied 74,973 vehicles to distributors. Tata Motors said in a stock exchange filing on Saturday that its sales in the domestic market grew by 2 percent to 75,173 units from 73,448 units in May last year. Total passenger vehicle sales, including electric vehicles, in the domestic market grew by 2 percent to 47,075 units from 45,984 units in May last year. The company’s total commercial vehicle sales also grew by 2 percent to 29,691 units in May from 28,989 units in the same month last year.
