New Delhi. BSP supremo Mayawati targeted Congress and Samajwadi Party on the recent Supreme Court order regarding creamy layer in SC-ST castes. Mayawati questioned the silence of Congress and Samajwadi Party on the Supreme Court’s decision regarding reservation and said that where are those people now who were roaming around with the Constitution book in their hands during the elections? Mayawati said that the people who were roaming around with the Constitution in their hands during the Lok Sabha elections cheated the backward castes, betrayed them. At the time of elections, they had promised that they will save the Constitution but why are these people silent now?

Mayawati targeted SP and Congress leaders and said that it is clear from their attitude that they are neither going to save the constitution nor the reservation. Now why are they not talking about reservation. Mayawati said that I have only one thing to say to all the parties including Samajwadi Party and Congress that assurances will not work. This will cause great harm to ST-SC. BSP supremo also asked all other parties to clarify their stand on this issue. She said that Modi ji should also bring an amendment bill in the house on this issue and the decision given by the Supreme Court on August 1 should be made ineffective.
Mayawati said that if the amendment bill regarding reservation comes in the House, then the stand of other parties will also become clear. The BSP supremo appealed to the central government to take steps in this regard soon. Let us tell you that in its decision given on August 1, the Supreme Court has approved the quota within the reservation available to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). The apex court said that the state government can create sub-categories in SC and ST tribes, so that the needy people can get more benefits of reservation.
