BSP rarely contests by-elections
BSP usually contests by-elections very rarely. Where BSP contests, Mayawati herself does not go to campaign. This will probably be the first time when she will campaign in a by-election. In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, BSP did not get a single seat.
BJP has never won from here
Let us tell you that BJP has never won the Mangalore seat. BSP and Congress have often won from here. BSP had won from here in the assembly elections. Here 45 percent are Muslims and 55 percent are Hindus. About 18 percent of Hindus are Dalit voters. BSP has been getting the support of Dalit and Muslim voters here.
Mayawati had relieved Akash Anand of his responsibilities
Let us tell you that BSP did not get a single seat in the Lok Sabha elections. During the elections, Chief Minister Mayawati had relieved her nephew Akash Anand from the responsibilities of her ‘successor’ and the party’s national coordinator. The BSP chief had declared Akash Anand as her ‘successor’ in December last year and this surprising decision to remove him came at a time when voting for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections was over in the country.
