Meerut. Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) President and Rajya Sabha member Jayant Chaudhary, while sharing the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Sunday, praised him profusely and said that if Narendra Modi had not been the Prime Minister of the country, Chaudhary Charan Singh would not have received the Bharat Ratna. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the Lok Sabha election campaign by addressing a rally in Meerut on Sunday along with the constituents of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), in which RLD chief Jayant Choudhary also participated.
In the beginning of March, RLD separated from the opposition alliance ‘India’ and became a part of NDA. NDA has supported RLD candidates in Baghpat and Bijnor seats of Uttar Pradesh. There are 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state, out of which BJP has given about five seats to its allies.
President Draupadi Murmu posthumously awarded the country’s highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna to former Prime Ministers PV Narasimha Rao and Chaudhary Charan Singh, agricultural scientist MS Swaminathan and two-time Chief Minister of Bihar Karpoori Thakur at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday.
For Chaudhary Charan Singh, his grandson and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) President Jayant Chaudhary accepted this honor from the President. Jayant Chaudhary, overwhelmed by the honor received by his grandfather, said that the farmers of the entire country express their gratitude for the honor the Modi government has given to the farmers by giving them Bharat Ratna. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making every possible effort for the development of the country.
For most of his 10-minute speech, Jayant Choudhary was seen reciting odes in praise of Prime Minister Modi. He said, “Chaudhary Charan Singh considered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as his ideal, people are taking care of his politics. He did not like corruption. Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are also fighting against corruption.”
The RLD chief said that “Rajiv Gandhi himself used to say that the government sends one rupee, 15 paise reaches the people, but today in Modi’s government, the benefit goes directly into the beneficiary’s account. In this way the Modi government is showing that it is ending corruption.”
Jayant Chaudhary said, “Corruption always comes from the top down. Corruption cannot end in the country as long as the supreme leader of the country remains corrupt.” While narrating an anecdote about his grandfather and former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, he directly targeted Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal.
Choudhary said, “Today people want to enjoy the pleasures of power even behind the bars, but Choudhary Charan Singh did not even use the government vehicle after leaving the post of minister.” In his address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also honored Jayant Chaudhary by calling him his younger brother. He also accused the opposition parties of insulting Chaudhary Charan Singh and creating a deadlock by the opposition while Jayant Chaudhary was speaking in Parliament.
