New Delhi. The Delhi High Court has listed for hearing on May 16 the petition of former Railway Minister Lalit Narayan Mishra’s grandson for an impartial re-investigation into the murder of former Railway Minister Lalit Narayan Mishra at Samastipur railway station in Bihar 48 years ago. A bench headed by Justice Suresh Kumar Kait listed Vaibhav Mishra’s plea along with an appeal by the convicts. In the appeal, the conviction for murder and the life sentence awarded have been challenged. On October 13 last year, the Supreme Court had allowed Vaibhav to assist in the final hearing on the appeal of the convicts, after which the grandson of the former Union Minister moved the High Court.
A bench comprising Justice Manoj Jain said in a recent order that ‘the present application is being filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure after the order of the Supreme Court dated October 13, 2023 on Special Leave Petition (Criminal) No. 13467/2023 Vaibhav Mishra vs. CBI and others. Has been filed under. The bench said that ‘this application is the main appeal CRL.A. 91/2015 should be listed for hearing on 16 May 2024. Congress leader and senior cabinet minister Lalit Narayan Mishra was injured in a grenade blast in Samastipur on January 2, 1975, where he had gone for the inauguration of the broad line.

He was taken from Samastipur to Danapur for treatment, where he died on January 3, 1975. In December 2014, the trial court here had sentenced four persons, Santoshanand, Sudevanand and Gopalji and advocate Ranjan Dwivedi, to life imprisonment for the murder of the former Railway Minister and two others.
