Patna. Bihar Election Commission (ECB) has decided to conduct MLC elections through ballot paper. According to an official notification, the Election Commission will not give election symbol to any candidate.
“The ballot papers contain the names of the candidates, their photographs, followed by the name of the party and a blank box where voters cast their votes in favor of particular candidates,” an official said.
“The ECB has also introduced a grading system for candidates. If voters have multiple choices, they can also mention an option number 1 to 5,” he said.
Voters can cast their vote only with a purple colored sketch pen. Other pens, pencils, ball pens are not allowed. Thumb impressions, fingerprints or signatures are also prohibited.
ECB is conducting MLC elections for 24 seats in Bihar and 187 candidates are in the fray.
Voting is to be held on April 4.
Elected Panchayat members and members of municipal bodies such as Mukhiya, Ward Councilor, District Councilor, besides MLAs and MPs are eligible to vote in MLC elections.
