Mumbai. In Maharashtra, Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had supported NDA in the Lok Sabha elections. Now it seems that Raj Thackeray has chosen the path of ‘Ekla Chalo’ for MNS. MNS has said that it will field candidates on 200 to 225 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. MNS did not field a single candidate in the Lok Sabha elections.
MNS leader Prakash Mahajan has given this information. According to Raj Thackeray’s MNS leader, the party will field candidates on more than 200 seats in the Maharashtra assembly elections. Prakash Mahajan claims that this decision has been taken by Raj Thackeray. The MNS leader also said that his party opposes caste-based reservation. Raj Thackeray’s party believes that the benefit of reservation should be given on economic criteria. It can be assumed that Raj Thackeray’s party can move forward with the issue of reservation in the Maharashtra assembly elections. If Raj Thackeray fields candidates on 200 or more seats, then even if he wins fewer seats, he can definitely divide the votes on many assembly seats. This can create problems for Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, Sharad Pawar’s faction’s NCP and Congress.
There are 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly. Maharashtra Assembly elections are expected to be held in October. BJP won 106 seats in the 2019 Assembly elections. At the same time, 44 MLAs of Congress won. 57 candidates of undivided Shiv Sena won. Whereas, 53 MLAs of undivided NCP were elected. At the same time, Raj Thackeray’s MNS won 1 assembly seat. Currently, Shiv Sena and NCP have split. Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena has 40 MLAs. At the same time, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena has 16 MLAs. NCP Sharad Pawar faction has 13 MLAs and Ajit Pawar faction has 40 MLAs. SP and Owaisi’s AIMIM have 2 MLAs each.
