Violence continues in Bangladesh
Even after the formation of the interim government in Bangladesh, the cycle of violence and protests continues. Interim government leader Mohammad Yunus has strongly condemned the attack on Hindus and minorities. Despite this, reports of violence are coming in the country. According to the Dhaka Tribune report, protesters attacked the army in Gopalganj area in which more than five army personnel have been injured. On Saturday, after a fierce clash between army personnel and Awami League supporters, the mob set an army vehicle on fire. About 15 people, including army personnel, journalists and local people, have been injured in this incident. Two of the injured have been shot. The incident took place at Gopinathpur bus stand in Sadar Upazila at around 4 pm on Saturday.
Demanding the return of Sheikh Hasina to the country
Thousands of Awami League leaders, activists and locals had gathered to protest and block the highway, demanding the return of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the country. Army personnel intervened and directed the protesters to clear the road but the mob started pelting bricks at them. Later, the army personnel used batons to disperse the crowd, in response to which the protesters vandalised and set fire to an army vehicle.
Lieutenant Colonel gave information
Lieutenant Colonel Maqsudur Rahman of the Gopalganj camp confirmed the incident and said that around 3,000 to 4,000 people had gathered and blocked the road. Four army personnel were injured in the attack by the miscreants. Former president of Gopinathpur union Lachu Sharif said that army members opened fire to control the situation. After this, “two people including a child were shot. No one was killed in the incident. The situation in the area calmed down around 6 pm on Saturday.
