SMS Hospital police station in Rajasthan capital Jaipur has exposed a large gang of mobile thief. Police arrested two accused and seized 43 Android mobiles worth more than seven lakh rupees from their possession. The police have started searching for other gang members after questioning the accused.
Action taken on complaint lodged on 12 March
DCP former Tejaswini Gautam told in a press conference that a special campaign has been launched in view of increasing incidents of mobile theft from major hospitals, bus stands and railway stations in the city. Meanwhile, on March 12, a person was reported to be stolen from SMS Hospital, on the basis of which the police started investigation.
Police reached the accused with the help of CCTV
Police searched CCTV footage and identified two suspects based on technical investigation. After investigation, the accused were arrested. He has been identified as Mohammed and Khalid. A total of 43 Android mobile phones were recovered from the accused during the arrest.
They used to do Reiki before stealing mobile phones.
During interrogation, the accused said that they used to steal people’s mobile phones in crowded areas. After stealing, he used to give mobile to other gang members so that it could be destroyed quickly. Scooter (RJ 14 WH 8737) used in crime has also been seized.
Efforts are on to reach mobile owners.
Police said the search for other gang members is going on. The process of spreading the seized mobile phone to their real owners has also been started.
