The Union Home Ministry said in a statement that the implementation of Modernization Plan-IV of the CAPFs will help in enhancing the efficiency and improving preparedness of these forces. This will strengthen the internal security system of the country.
CAPFs include CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NSG and Assam Rifles. The CRPF is mostly deployed for internal security and fighting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, the Border Security Force (BSF) protects India’s border with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Apart from this, it also provides internal protection.
Similarly, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) guards critical installations such as nuclear plants, airports and metro networks, while the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) guards the Indo-China border.
