financial Jamie Dimon, Chief Executive Officer of service company JP Morgan Chase, has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken 40 crore people out of poverty in India by pursuing reforms and through inclusive programs. In this way they are doing an ‘incredible’ job. Praising the performance of the Modi government at an event at the Economic Club of New York on Tuesday, Dimon said, “Modi has done incredible work in India… He has taken 40 crore people out of poverty.”
It is necessary to be strict for change
“They have an incredible education system, incredible infrastructure, they are lifting up the entire country,” he said. This is happening because this man is equally tough. I think change has to be drastic. You know he is bringing changes in some parts of the bureaucracy.
Such initiatives are needed in America also
Dimon praised Modi’s reforms in recent times, saying, “He has started this extraordinary system where every citizen is marked by a hand, an eye or a finger.” He has opened bank accounts for 70 crore people. Their payments are being transferred directly into bank accounts. Describing Modi as being tough in breaking old bureaucratic structures, he said, “We need some of this toughness here (in America) too.” Also praised the indirect tax system and said that it has eliminated corruption arising from differences in tax systems adopted by different states.
