New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is making tireless efforts to increase people’s interest towards investment. Its benefits are also now visible. In this series, there has been a record sale of cheap gold i.e. Sovereign Gold Bond this time. Investors have made record purchases in the third series of Sovereign Gold Bonds issued for the financial year 2023-2024. According to the data of Reserve Bank of India, 1 crore 21 lakh 06 thousand 807 grams (12.11 tonnes) have been purchased in this series. This series was issued between 18 and 22 December last year, which was the 66th Sovereign Gold Bond. Its price was fixed by the government at Rs 6,199 per gram.
Let us tell you that before this, the maximum purchase of 1 crore 16 lakh 73 thousand 960 grams of gold was made for the 65th Sovereign Gold Bond. This was the second series of the current financial year, which was released on September 20, 2023. The huge profits from the country’s first sovereign gold bond issued in December 2017 have excited investors. In the first bond, investors got a total return of more than 157 percent and an annual return of more than 12 percent. At the same time, the profit from selling sovereign gold bonds before completion of maturity is also giving returns of more than 100 percent.
According to the data released by RBI, till January 1, 2024, a total of 13 crore 41 lakh 75 thousand 808 grams of sovereign gold bonds have been purchased. This does not include the data of first bond purchase. Because this bond matured on 30 November 2023. For this series, equivalent to 0.91 tonnes of gold was sold.
