Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Poland on 21 August and Ukraine on 23 August. Here he will have a long conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This visit is taking place at a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin is in Azerbaijan, which sees India as an enemy. When the Foreign Ministry was asked about the purpose of this visit, they clearly said that India has an independent relationship with Russia and Ukraine. It is not dependent on each other. In such a situation, it is believed that is this a response to the Russian President’s visit to Azerbaijan?
The Ministry of External Affairs said that PM Modi will be on a visit to Poland on 21 and 22 August. There he will have talks with PM Donald Tusk. PM Modi will visit Ukraine on 23 August at the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This will be an important visit. This is the first time that an Indian Prime Minister is visiting Ukraine. Foreign Ministry Secretary Tanmay Lal said, there will be bilateral talks between the two leaders. But the Ukraine war is also likely to be discussed seriously. Due to some reasons, we are not telling about all the programs right now.
Will India enforce a ceasefire there?
When asked if India is going to give any message about ceasefire there, Tanmay Lal said, we have always been saying that dialogue and diplomacy is the only way to bring peace in that area. We cannot say in advance what will be the talks between India and the Ukrainian leadership. There are currently 2100 students in Ukrainian universities, and more than 1000 of them are in Ukraine. The Indian Embassy is constantly in touch with these students.
Ukraine occupied many areas of Russia
PM Modi’s visit to Ukraine is taking place at a time when the war between Ukraine and Russia has intensified. Ukraine has captured many villages in the Russian border. President Putin is very angry with Russia’s attack on the Kursk region and has announced revenge. Lal said, this historic visit is taking place against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which will be a part of the discussion. India has consistently advocated diplomacy and dialogue to reach an agreement and negotiate. This is an important visit that will further strengthen our relations in various fields.
Zelensky got angry then
Earlier, when PM Modi visited Russia and hugged Putin, Zelensky had shown a lot of displeasure. PM Modi has repeatedly appealed for a ceasefire, but never condemned Russia’s air strike. Even India has been maintaining distance in the United Nations on any proposal related to Russia. However, PM Modi has told Putin that the solution to the conflict is possible only through peace and dialogue, not war. He had said, whether it is war or terrorism, anyone who believes in humanity is troubled by deaths, especially when innocent children die. As a friend, I have always said that peace is necessary for future generations. But I also know that peace cannot come from guns, bombs and bullets.
