The first match of the two-Test series is being played between India and Sri Lanka in Mohali. India batted in the first innings on the first day of the match on Friday (March 4). Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant batted brilliantly for him. However, Pant once again missed out on scoring a century. He became the victim of nervous nineties in Test cricket for the fifth time. Pant and Iyer put on a half-century partnership for the fifth wicket. Both added 53 runs in 88 balls. Iyer was dismissed for 27 runs off 48 balls. After his departure, Ravindra Jadeja came to the crease. Jadeja and Pant again took over the innings of Team India.
Jadeja and Pant shared a century partnership for the sixth wicket. Both added 104 runs in 118 balls. Pant was bowled in the 81st over by Suranga Lakmal. He scored 96 before being dismissed. After being bowled, Pant looked quite disappointed. He sat on the pitch.
When a frustrated Pant started walking slowly towards the pavilion, Jadeja encouraged him. Everyone in the dressing applauded for him. Pant became the victim of nervous nineties for the first time against Sri Lanka.
