Team India’s star bowler Mohammed Shami has been out of Team India for a long time. Shami is undergoing his rehab process after ankle surgery. Fans are eagerly waiting for his return. Shami played his last match in the final against Australia during the ODI World Cup 2023. Since then he has been on rest. Meanwhile, a big news has come out for Mohammed Shami’s fans and Team India. Mohammed Shami is likely to return to competitive cricket for his domestic team Bengal in the Ranji Trophy. After this he can play a Test match against New Zealand. Which will be his return to the international stage.

Will make a comeback against this team

Mohammed Shami will play in Bengal’s opening Ranji match against UP on October 11 and the next match against Bihar on October 18 in Kolkata. He is expected to feature in both the matches. However, there will be only a two-day gap between the two games so it is unlikely that he will play both the matches. The New Zealand Test series will begin in Bengaluru on October 19, followed by Tests in Pune (October 24) and Mumbai (November 1). Shami is expected to play one of these matches before leaving for the big tour of Australia. Shami was in great form before his surgery.

Doing training in NCA

Shami has not played any competitive cricket since undergoing ankle surgery in the United Kingdom in February this year and the surgery ruled him out for at least six months. However, he is making a comeback after 11 months of his surgery. Shami posted a video on Instagram of him starting bowling with a short run-up with low speed with his RTP routine at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, there were reports that he might be available for the Duleep Trophy, but it did not happen.

Shami could not play Duleep Trophy

There was no chance of him being fit during the Duleep Trophy and the selectors do not want to take any risk by calling him in a hurry before the need. The BCCI’s priority is to get India’s top three fast bowlers – Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj – fit for the five Test matches to be held in Australia. Shami has so far taken 229 wickets in 64 Test matches with six five-wicket hauls and 12 four-wicket hauls.
