After the coup of Sheikh Hasina government, Mohammad Yunus, who played an important role in the current government of Bangladesh, has telephoned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and talked on various issues. Chief Advisor of the Bangladesh government Mohammad Yunus has assured PM Modi of the safety of Hindus. Let us tell you that after the coup of Sheikh Hasina, there was widespread violence in the neighboring country Bangladesh. The rioters started targeting the minorities. Especially there was a lot of atrocities and barbarism against Hindus. After this, there was a demand for intervention from India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mentioned this from the Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day.
Earlier, on the occasion of Independence Day on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the situation in violence-hit Bangladesh will soon return to normal. He had said that 140 crore Indians are concerned about the safety of Hindus and minorities in the neighboring country. In his address from the Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day, he said that India is committed to peace and will remain a well-wisher of Bangladesh in its development journey. A day after this, Bangladesh government’s chief advisor Mohammad Yunus has now called the PM and assured him of the safety of other minorities including Hindus.

What happened between the two?
Several issues were discussed between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Advisor of Bangladesh Government Mohammad Yunus. During this, PM Modi said that India is committed to support a democratic, stable, peaceful and progressive Bangladesh. PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to support the people of Bangladesh through various development projects. He also explained the importance of security of Hindus as well as other minority communities. Mohammad Yunus assured PM Modi that the interim government of Bangladesh will give priority to the security of other minorities including Hindus. PM Modi and Mohammad Yunus also discussed issues related to furthering bilateral relations.
Attack on Hindus in Bangladesh
There have been reports of vandalism in many Hindu temples, houses of Hindu community people and business establishments in Bangladesh after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned recently. There was chaos in the country after violent protests against the Sheikh Hasina government over the controversial quota system in jobs. PM Modi said that as a neighboring country, it is natural for us to be concerned about what has happened in Bangladesh. I hope that the situation there will be normal soon. He had said that the concern of 140 crore countrymen is especially that the safety of Hindus and minorities there should be ensured. India always wants that the neighboring country should move forward on the path of peace and prosperity.
