Molestation of female coach: Charges framed against former minister and Olympic player Sandeep Singh, father said – truth will prevail

Chandigarh. Troubles have increased for former Haryana minister and Olympic player Sardar Sandeep Singh. Chandigarh court has framed charges against former Haryana sports minister Sardar Sandeep Singh in the female coach sexual harassment case. Charges have been framed against Sandeep Singh under sections 354, 354 A, 354 B, 506 and 509 of the IPC and now the next hearing of the case will be on August 17.

According to the information, during the hearing on Monday, the court rejected the plea of former sports minister Sardar Sandeep Singh to drop the charges and add sections in view of the attempt to rape the victim. Now a case will be filed against Sandeep Singh in the matter and the statements of witnesses will be recorded in the next hearing.

In fact, a case is going on in Chandigarh District Court against former Haryana Sports Minister Sandeep Singh, who is embroiled in the junior coach sexual harassment case. The process of framing charges against Sandeep Singh has been going on for more than one and a half years.

The father of the victim junior women coach says that he is hopeful that truth will prevail in the judiciary. He says that he has full faith in the judiciary. Efforts will also be made to add the sections that have been removed by the court. He says that the Chandigarh Police has done its job well, but he has no hope from the government. Because even though Manohar Lal Khattar has been replaced by Nayab Singh Saini, only the face of the Chief Minister has changed in Haryana and nothing else.

Complaint was given to Chandigarh Police

It is worth noting that on 26 December 2022, the junior women’s coach had lodged a complaint with the Chandigarh Police against Haryana minister Sandeep Singh, alleging sexual harassment and other charges. After this, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the matter under the supervision of DSP (former) Palak Goyal. It included Cyber Police Station in-charge Inspector Ranjit Singh, Women Police Station in-charge Inspector Usha and a female SI.

After the SIT investigation, the police also added section 509 of the IPC against Sandeep Singh. On 26 December 2022, former Sports Minister Sandeep Singh was accused of sexual harassment. The former minister was accused by a junior female coach working in the sports department and then a case was registered against Minister Sandeep Singh on 31 December.
