At this time the monsoon has become completely active in Bihar, due to which it is raining intermittently in many parts of the state. Although torrential rains are still waiting for the capital Patna and its surrounding areas, but heavy rains in the districts of North Bihar have started affecting life.

Rain of disaster in North Bihar

Districts of North Bihar like Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Shivhar, and Supaul are receiving heavy rains. The most concern is that the effect of heavy rains in Nepal is also being seen clearly on these areas. The water level of rivers emanating from Nepal, especially Bagmati River, is rising rapidly.

Bagmati river spate, threatened in many places

Due to the rise in water level in Bagmati river, flood -like situation has started in many coastal areas. There have also been reports of the breakdown of embankments in some areas. The administration has put flood control teams on high alert in the border areas of Sitamarhi and Darbhanga districts.

Waiting for rain in South Bihar

On the other hand, the districts of South Bihar like Patna, Gaya, Nalanda and Bhojpur have been receiving only light and sporadic rain so far. People here are waiting for heavy rains in the hope of relief from heat and humidity. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of good rains in South Bihar including Patna in the next 48 hours.

Administration in alert mode

The Disaster Management Department has directed the rescue and relief parties to be prepared in sensitive areas of North Bihar. Keeping in mind the old experiences of flood control, this time a boat, life -saving jacket, medical kits and food grains have been stored.

Meteorological forecast

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said in its latest bulletin that,

“Monsoon is more active in northern and central Bihar. Due to heavy rains in Nepal, flood -like conditions may arise in the border districts for the next three days. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rains in South Bihar soon.”
