Jaipur. An important MoU was signed on Thursday between Rajasthan Rural Livelihood Development Council (Rajivika) and Rajasthan Forestry and Biodiversity Development Committee (RVJVS). This cooperation is a major step towards strengthening the livelihood of communities dependent on forests and connecting them to alternative, sustainable and diverse livelihood opportunities.
The agreement has been specifically under the Rajasthan Forest and Biodiversity Development Project (RFBDP), which is being run by RVJVS in collaboration with the Rajasthan Forest Department. The project is being implemented in 800 villages of 13 districts of Rajasthan from 2023-24 to 2030-31 from co-owner of AFD France.
Under the project, 1200 self -help groups will be formed and empowered, which will be further organized as Village Organization (VO) and package level organization (CLF). Its purpose is to connect the communities dependent on forests with the means of alternative livelihood.
Rajivika is the major nodal agency of the state government, which has so far set up more than 4.20 lakh self -help groups in the state and is playing a leading role in empowering around 5 million rural women. Rajivika connects self -help groups with financial institutions, government schemes and income generation activities.
This MoU is an example of a strong partnership in the direction of empowering self -help groups through coordinated use, capacity development, skill development, skill development, and income generation activities of both institutions.
On this occasion, State Mission Director Neha Verma on behalf of Rajivika and Project Director S.K. R. V. Murthy signed the MoU. At the ceremony, senior officer of the forest department P.K. Upadhyay (PCCF and HOFF), Shikha Mehra (PCCF), Anurag Bhardwaj (PCCF – WP and FS and IT), K.K. C.A. Arun Prasad (APCCF FCA), Kapil Chandrawal (Additional Project Director, RFBDP) and other officials of both departments were also present.
