Pakistan Mpox Case: The first case of ampox this year has been reported in Pakistan. The virus has been confirmed in a person who recently returned from Saudi Arabia. ARY News has given this information quoting the Ministry of Health. A man from Mardan arrived in Pakistan on August 3. Shortly after reaching Peshawar, he started showing symptoms and went to the hospital for examination. According to ARY News, Khyber Medical University in Peshawar has confirmed this disease.
Health officials took precautionary measures
Panic erupted after a man returning from Saudi Arabia was found to be infected with the Ampox virus. Health officials have launched tracing efforts to identify and monitor individuals who came in close contact with the infected man, including fellow passengers on his flight from Saudi Arabia.
Mpox case found in Sweden
Meanwhile, it should also be mentioned here that the World Health Organization had warned about the growing threat of ampox. Earlier, the first case of ampox outside Africa has been confirmed in Sweden. Just a day ago, the World Health Organization had declared this disease a global public health emergency for the second time in two years. Olivia Wigjell, Director General of the Swedish Public Health Agency, said in a press conference that the infected person came under the grip of the virus while living in a part of Africa, where this disease is spreading on a large scale.

It is worth noting that, Ampox is spreading rapidly in 13 African countries including Congo. So far 524 people have died from this disease. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus gave a media briefing after the meeting of the IHR Emergency Committee on the rise of Ampox. He said that this is the second time in three years that Ampox has reached emergency status, WHO is working on the Ampox outbreak in Africa.
