When destruction looms over man, his conscience dies first… This line of the national poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar seems very appropriate for neighbouring Bangladesh today. After former PM Sheikh Hasina left the country, the country has been completely taken over by fundamentalists. It seems that the conscience of these fundamentalists has died in the fire of hatred towards India and Hindus. Their love for Pakistan is so dominant that they have started erasing their own history.
They are burning in the fire of hatred for India. They are attacking Hindus. In this sequence, they are not even sparing their freedom hero Mujibur Rahman. Last week, after Sheikh Hasina left the post of Prime Minister, the statue of Mujibur Rahman was demolished in the violence that broke out there. Bulldozers were run on his statue. Now another symbol of Bangladesh’s independence has been demolished.
In fact, the Shaheed Memorial Complex (1971 Shaheed Memorial Complex destroyed:) built in Dhaka’s Mujib Nagar to commemorate India’s victory against Pakistan in the 1971 war and the independence of Bangladesh has also been demolished. Not only this, the fundamentalists have attacked the Indian Cultural Center, temples and houses of Hindus.
symbol of independence of Bangladesh
This statue was a symbol of Bangladesh’s independence. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has mentioned this incident in a post on X. Tharoor writes- It is sad to see this picture of the demolition of the statue of the Shaheed Memorial Complex of 1971. Anti-India forces have demolished it.
After this incident, there have been attacks on Indian cultural centers, temples and houses of Hindus. However, there have also been reports that many Muslim families are engaged in protecting Hindus. They are protecting their houses and temples.
The biggest surrender
In the 1971 war, not only Bangladesh was liberated, but Pakistan was also deeply hurt. This statue was a reminder of the same hurt that Pakistan suffered. It depicted the incident of 93 thousand Pakistani soldiers surrendering to the Indian Army. Major General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi signed the surrender letter from Pakistan’s side. Along with him, 93 thousand Pakistani soldiers laid down their arms. Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Arora made this surrender from India’s side.
This incident was the largest military surrender in the history of the world after the Second World War. But, the situation has worsened after the violence that erupted in Bangladesh in the past few days and the resignation of Sheikh Hasina. More than 450 people have died in this violence.
