New Delhi. Mafia Mukhtar Ansari died on Thursday evening. He was lodged in Banda District Jail since 2021. After suffering a heart attack, he was admitted to Banda Medical College where doctors declared him brought dead. After Ansari’s death, former DSP Shailendra Singh remembered a story related to him. Singh claimed that Mulayam Singh’s government wanted to protect Ansari and forced him to resign.
Singh recalled an incident 20 years ago in 2004 when Ansari’s terror was at its peak. He roamed freely in curfew areas, and Singh confiscated a light machine gun from him, the only recovery before or since. Singh also accused him, but the Mulayam government wanted to save him at any cost.
Singh alleged that he put pressure on officials, which led to the transfer of IG-Range, DIG and SP-SSP. He was even forced to resign within 15 days. However, in his resignation, Singh gave his reasons publicly saying that the same government which was elected by the people is now protecting the mafia and working on their orders. He clarified that he is not doing any favoritism but is performing his duty.
