New Delhi. The figures regarding the share of each community in India’s population in the last 65 years have been revealed. The Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council i.e. ESPPM has mentioned this in its working paper. According to the working paper of the council, from 1950 to 2015, the population of Muslims in India has increased by 43.15 percent. It has also been told in this paper that during the same period, the population of religious majority i.e. Hindus in India has declined by 7.81 percent. According to the working paper, in the year 1950 the population of Muslims in India was 9.84 percent. Which has increased to 14.09 percent. At the same time, the population of Hindus has decreased from 84.68 percent to 78.06 percent.
According to the data given in the working paper, apart from Muslims, the population of Christian, Buddhist and Sikh communities has also increased in India. Whereas, the population of Jain and Parsi communities has decreased. Statistics show that in 1950, there were 2.24 percent Christians in India. Now his percentage has increased to 2.36. At the same time, the population of Sikhs has increased from 1.24 percent to 1.85 percent. If we talk about Buddhists, their population in India has increased from 0.05 percent to 0.81 percent in the last 65 years.
In this working paper it has been told that the population of Jain community was 0.45 percent in 1950. It decreased to 0.36 percent in 2015. Whereas, the population of Parsi community has fallen by 85 percent from 0.03 to 0.004 percent. It is clear from this that the number of indigenous minority community in India is increasing significantly. Whereas, in India’s neighboring countries Pakistan, Bangladesh etc. the majority i.e. Hindus is continuously decreasing. In such a situation, those who say that the Muslim community in India is in great trouble, their claim is also proving to be completely wrong.
