On the other hand, shopkeepers outside the Mahabodhi Temple in Gaya, Bihar have put up nameplates on their own will. Whereas, the Bihar government has not issued any order to do so. Thousands of Kanwariyas come to Bodh Gaya. In such a situation, Hindu and Muslim shopkeepers have voluntarily put up nameplates.
Ujjain Mayor Mukesh Tatwal has issued an order to put up nameplates of the owners outside the shops and has called it the right of the customers. According to the mayor, the purpose of this order is not to target Muslim shopkeepers. Ujjain Mayor says that if shopkeepers put up nameplates, it will bring security and transparency. Shopkeepers in Ujjain have been warned of punitive action if they do not put up nameplates. The mayor has fixed a fine of Rs 2000 on the first violation and Rs 5000 on the second and third consecutive violations. Ujjain Mayor Mukesh Tatwal has said that the proposal regarding shopkeepers putting up nameplates was passed by the Mayor in Council in 2002 itself. After this, it was sent to the state government for approval.
Shopkeepers in Ujjain will have to write their mobile number along with their name on the board. The mayor said that Ujjain is a religious city. People come here with faith. People have the right to know who owns the shop from where they bought goods. In case of any dispute, the problem can be solved in this way. Simhastha Kumbh is also to be held in Ujjain in the year 2028.
