Assamese film and theater actress Nandini Kashyap has been detained by the Guwahati police in the hit-and-run case. She has been brought to the women’s police station in the state capital, Dispur, for questioning. Nandini Kashyap has been detained in the July 25 hit-and-run case, in which 21-year-old Nalbari Polytechnic student Samiul Haq died on Tuesday evening.
According to the trin, Nandini was detained from the rehearsal complex of the capital theater in Guwahati. Kashyap is expected to be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate immediately after the interrogation. Police said that Nandini Kashyap has been detained for questioning as part of an investigation into the hit-end-run case. There is resentment in the entire state after this deadly accident on July 25 at 3 am.
Many student organizations and civil society groups have demanded immediate arrest of Nandini. According to eyewitnesses, Samiul was seriously injured when he was allegedly hit by a high speed Bolero Neo. Samiul Haq was a student of Nalbari Polytechnic. He worked with his uncle at night to earn.
Samiul Haq died in a private hospital after fighting bravely for five days at Guwahati Medical College. All Assam Polytechnic Students Union (AAPSU) has lodged an FIR at the Dispur Police Station, seeking immediate legal action against the actress. The family of the deceased has also demanded justice.
Amidst the controversy, the capital theater, with which Kashyap had a two -year contract, has announced to end his contract. Meanwhile, the Assamese film industry has also started reacting to the incident. In the recently released Assamese film Rudra, lead actor Ravi Sarma, co-starred with Nandini, expressed deep grief over the death of Samiul Haq.

Police sources have confirmed that the case is being investigated. According to the FIR lodged by the union, the incident occurred near Kahilipara on July 25 at around 3 am. Samiul Haq was driving his motorcycle, when a Bolero Neo, who was allegedly run by Kashyap, hit him.
