New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to take oath as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term on June 8. This development comes after the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting to be held today, Wednesday. After this meeting, it is being speculated that Prime Minister Modi will meet President Draupadi Murmu to submit a letter of support for government formation.
On Tuesday, the Union Cabinet met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi, during which he recommended the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha. The current term of the 17th Lok Sabha is going to end on June 16. It is worth mentioning that the President has the power to dissolve the Lok Sabha, but it is done on the advice of the Prime Minister or the Union Cabinet. With the recommendation of the Cabinet, the process of dissolution will move forward with the approval of the President.

The BJP has got 240 seats in the results of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won 16 seats, the Janata Dal (United) secured 12 seats, the Shiv Sena faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde secured 7 seats and Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) secured 5 seats. These political allies are expected to play a key role in the formation of the government.
JDU and TDP confirmed support to NDA
Amid speculation, the Congress-led All India Alliance has reportedly approached TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for support in government formation. However, both JDU and TDP have confirmed their allegiance to the NDA. Speaking from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu said, “Don’t worry. You want news. I have seen many political changes in this country, but I will stay with the NDA. I am going to Delhi to attend the NDA meeting.”
What will the new form of government be like?
This election is the first time since 2014 that the BJP has failed to cross the majority threshold of 272 seats independently. As a result, the party is now dependent on its NDA allies to form a government. This change suggests that the new government may feature a changed composition compared to the previous term.
