New Delhi. In many states of the country, more than 30 people have died in the incidents of heavy rains, floods and landslides. 17 people who came under the grip of these disasters are missing. The highest number of deaths occurred in the hill state of Himachal Pradesh in the north. Most of the nature has wreaked havoc in Mandi, Kangra and Chamba here. According to the latest information, 22 people have lost their lives in Himachal. At the same time, 4 people have lost their lives in Uttarakhand. Four people have also died in Odisha, two in Jammu and Kashmir and one in Jharkhand due to rain.
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha and some other states from today to the next few days. 16 people lost their lives due to cloudburst and landslide in Himachal’s D. The cloudburst in Thunag completely destroyed 31 houses, 60 shops, 26 cowsheds and a bridge. The couple and their son lost their lives when debris fell on their house in Chamba. The most traumatic incident took place in Jhardon village of Nachan. Due to the disaster here, 8 people of the same family lost their lives. In Himachal’s neighboring state of Punjab, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Mukerian, Dasuha, Jawali, Indora, Nurpur, Fatehpur, Hajipur and Talwara have been alerted that water may be released from Shah Nahar barrage and Beas river.
Talking about Uttarakhand, 12 people have been injured and as many are missing due to natural calamity here. Many people were rescued by helicopter. Roads and connectivity in many villages have been broken. At many places, 250 roads including 3 national highways are closed due to landslides. According to information received from Jammu and Kashmir, rocks and soil fell from the mountain on the house in Tikri of Udhampur district. This resulted in the death of two children. Whereas, the road from Udhampur to Panchairi and Mongri road were also closed due to landslide. Relief and rescue work is being done everywhere.
