Seats have been divided among the NDA for all the six seats in the country’s financial capital Mumbai. From here, NCP Ajit Pawar faction in NDA has not got any seat. BJP and Shiv Sena Shinde faction will contest elections from three seats each. Actually, the entire controversy was regarding South Mumbai Lok Sabha seat. BJP was staking its claim from here. But, this issue has been resolved. Shiv Sena Shinde faction will contest elections from here. He has made MLA Yamini Jadhav a candidate.
Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray has made its outgoing MP Arvind Sawant its candidate. Therefore, there will be a direct contest between Arvind Sawant and Yamini Jadhav in South Mumbai. BJP was also keen to contest elections from South Mumbai seat. The names of Rahul Narvekar and Mangal Prabhat Lodha were also discussed for South Mumbai seat, but ultimately this seat went to Shiv Sena Shinde faction.
Division of 3-3 seats
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has responded that the decision to contest elections on three seats each in Mumbai has already been taken. After the announcement of Yamini Jadhav’s candidature, the picture of all six NDA seats in Mumbai has become clear. Shiv Sena has fielded Ravindra Vaikar from Mumbai North-West Lok Sabha constituency and Rahul Shewale from Mumbai North Central. At the same time, Piyush Goyal from Mumbai North, Ujjwal Nikam from Mumbai North Central and Mihir Kotecha from Mumbai North East have fielded from BJP.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s Gopal Shetty was in the fray from Mumbai North, Manoj Kotak from Mumbai North East and Poonam Mahajan from Mumbai North Central. Shiv Sena won the remaining three seats. Gajanan Kirtikar was victorious from Mumbai North Central, Rahul Shewale from Mumbai South Central and Arvind Sawant was victorious from Mumbai South.
