NEET UG 2024: One question can spoil the maths of lakhs of children, understand the effect of a wrong answer

NEET-UG 2024: There is a problem regarding NEET UG exam, which the Supreme Court has given the responsibility of solving to IIT Delhi. Actually, this whole matter is related to a question in the NEET UG paper. Two options were given for this question of Physics and both the options were correct. That is, whichever option a student chose, he got marks. After the controversy over the option of this question, now the question is being raised that how many NEET UG candidates will be affected by this. If experts are to be believed, the answer to this question can spoil the calculations of lakhs of candidates giving NEET exam. However, the Supreme Court has sought opinion from the experts of IIT Delhi to solve the puzzle of this question. Now it remains to be seen what opinion these experts give.

More than 4.20 lakh students will be affected
If option 2 given in the answer to this question asked in the NEET exam is found to be wrong, then more than 4.20 lakh students will be affected. During the hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday, the Chief Justice (CJI) said that the bench is concerned that more than 4 lakh students have benefited by considering option 2 as correct, so if suddenly option 2 is considered wrong, then 4.20 lakh students will lose four marks as well as get a negative mark. This can affect a lot.

How more than 9 lakh students responded
In the Supreme Court, the Solicitor General told that more than 9 lakh students have answered this question asked in the NEET paper according to the new NCERT book, while 4,20,773 students have given their answer on the basis of the old book. However, the CJI in the Supreme Court also asked why NTA finally decided to give marks to both the options? To which the Solicitor General (SG) replied that because both were possible answers. On this answer of the Solicitor General, the petitioner’s lawyer said that this is not possible. The CJI also asked whether the students are expected to follow the new or old NCERT versions? The Solicitor General said that the new version. After which the Supreme Court has sought expert opinion from IIT Delhi on this and directed the Director to form a committee of three experts in this field. The expert team will prepare an opinion on the appropriate answer and submit it to the Registrar.
