Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed his nomination papers from Varanasi on Tuesday, May 14. He is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from here for the third time. According to the affidavit filed with the Election Commission, PM Modi has only Rs 52,920 in cash. Out of that, Rs 24,920 were from earlier and Rs 28,000 were withdrawn from the bank a day before the nomination.
If seen in terms of wealth, PM Modi, despite being counted among the most powerful leaders of the world, is a pickpocket. He has two bank accounts – one in his hometown Gandhinagar and one in his constituency Varanasi. Modi has a deposit of Rs 73 thousand in the State Bank of India in Gandhinagar and the balance in his Varanasi account is only Rs 7,000. Apart from the savings account, the Prime Minister also has a fixed deposit (FDR) of Rs 2.85 crore in SBI. Apart from this, he has invested Rs 9,12,398 in National Savings Certificate (NSC).
Apart from cash, Narendra Modi, who is contesting elections from Varanasi for the third time, has four gold rings weighing 45 grams each, whose value is said to be Rs 2.67 lakh. According to the affidavit, there has been an increase in the total wealth of PM Modi this year as compared to last year. Prime Minister Modi’s total wealth has increased from Rs 2.85 crore last year to Rs 3,07,68,885. His net worth has increased by Rs 22 lakh in the last one year.
71-year-old Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a bank balance of Rs 1,52,480 and Rs 36,900 in cash as of March 31. The increase in his wealth is due to his fixed deposit in the Gandhinagar branch of State Bank of India. The fixed deposits (FD) of SBI Gandhinagar NSC branch stood at Rs 1.83 crore as on March 31 this year, while last year it was Rs 1.6 crore.

On Tuesday, on the auspicious occasion of Ganga Saptami, the Prime Minister performed Ganga puja at Dashashwamedh Ghat first thing in the morning. K Venkat Raman Ghanpathy, member of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust and three priests from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra performed the Ganga puja. Prime Minister Swami Vivekananda boarded the cruise and went from Dashashwamedh Ghat to Adikeshav Ghat while visiting Ganga, then landed at Namo Ghat. From Namo Ghat, the Prime Minister went straight to Kotwal Kaal of Kashi for darshan, worship and aarti of Bhairav Baba. Reached the Collectorate here after taking permission and blessings from Baba.
