Kathmandu: Many people who went missing after a massive landslide in Nepal last week are still missing. In such a situation, on the appeal of the Nepal government, a team of 12 members has been sent to Kathmandu, which will search for the missing people. Let us tell you that after the landslide that took place a few days ago, the passengers of two buses were swept away in the overflowing river. 12 Indian rescue workers also joined the Nepali security force teams on Sunday to help in the search for the missing people. On Nepal’s request, the Indian rescue team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) reached Chitwan in Bagmati province on Saturday. There were seven Indian citizens in a bus, out of which the bodies of three have been recovered so far.

Nepal had sought India’s assistance to search for the buses that were swept away by a landslide in the Trishuli river on July 12. The Indian team began the search operation on Sunday morning, The Kathmandu Post newspaper reported. At least 19 bodies have been recovered after the two buses carrying 65 passengers were swept away by a landslide into the Trishuli river on the Narayanghat-Muglin road section. Three passengers managed to get out of the bus and swam to the shore. The Indian team comprises four divers, equipped with necessary equipment including three sonar cameras.

Nepali army is also engaged in search

Several rescue and search teams of the Nepal Army, police and Armed Police Force (APF) have been searching for the wreckage of the buses and passengers since the day of the incident, but have had little success so far. The bodies of passengers on both the buses were swept away for 100 kilometers in the Trishuli river. Out of the 62 passengers who were swept away with the buses, bodies of 24 have been recovered from various places in Nepal and India. However, only 15 bodies have been confirmed as those of the passengers on board the buses. Sources said at least four of the bodies recovered belong to Indians. (Language)
