Jaipur, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that cooperatives play an important role in realizing the resolve of Antyodaya and it is the priority of the state government to empower the cooperative sector. He said that the new co-operative code will promote transparency and accountability in cooperative institutions. Also, in this new cooperative code, various provisions have been made to determine the cooperative facility and public welfare schemes to the public. This code will bring widespread improvements towards modernization of cooperative societies. Sharma was addressing a meeting organized in connection with the new co-operative code at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday. He said that the state government is bringing a new co-operative code to make Rajasthan Cooperatives Act-2001 relevant in the current context. A committee constituted for this has also visited states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala and conducted practical studies of the cooperative laws there and the effective provisions of cooperative laws of these states have been included in the new cooperative code, so that cooperative institutions can be empowered.

The Chief Minister said that the new cooperative code should be made simple, practical and public interest so that more and more people can take advantage of it. Our aim is that cooperatives should be made accessible in the state so that the people of the state are not deprived of the benefits received through cooperatives. He instructed the officials to include provisions like digital governance, computerization to village service cooperative societies, regular elections of cooperative societies, transparency in audit process and improvement in board elections and timely decision systems. Sharma said that according to the spirit of prosperity from cooperation, departmental officers should give their suggestions for this new cooperative code, so that cooperative societies can be made transparent and financially strong. He instructed the departmental officers to hold a regular meeting in this regard and cooperative friends should be made in the villages and their suggestions should be taken. During this time, departmental officials gave information through presentation of the format of the new co-operative code. The meeting discussed in detail the major points related to the code. Minister of State for Cooperation (Independent Charge) Gautam Kumar Dak and concerned officials were present in the meeting.
