New Delhi. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has achieved a major success against the pro-Khalistan terrorist network. The NIA on Friday morning arrested a key associate of dreaded foreign terrorists Harvinder Sandhu alias Rinda and Lakhbir Singh alias Landa from New Delhi after extraditing them from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the NIA, a non-bailable warrant (NBW) was issued against Tarsem Singh, brother of designated individual terrorist Lakhbir Landa of Tarn Taran district of Punjab, since June 2023. Tarsem Singh was first detained from Abu Dhabi in November 2023 after the NIA special court issued a warrant and then a Red Corner Notice by Interpol. Finally, on Friday, he was extradited from the UAE to India following due Interpol procedures.
He was a key member of the Babbar Khalistan International (BKI) terrorist organisation and an important terror node of UAE-designated terrorists Rinda and Landa. According to the NIA investigation, Tarsem was accused of actively contributing to the organisation and provision of terror funds to India-based associates of Rinda and Landa. He was also involved in channelisation of terror funds through multiple routes.
The NIA had registered a case against him on August 20, 2022 on its own initiative. The case relates to the terror activities of the heads and members of banned terrorist organisations like Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), BKI, International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF), who have established a vast network of terrorist operatives across India.
These organizations are operating through cadres/members of terrorist organizations and organized criminal gangs to smuggle arms, ammunition, explosives, IEDs etc. across the border. NIA investigation so far has revealed that they are using drug trafficking, extortion, hawala business etc. to raise funds to carry out terrorist activities on Indian soil.
