Night shift workers beware! Lack of sleep can cause cancer, if not corrected then it can have dangerous consequences!

Night Shift Cancer Risk: In urban life, many people work night shifts. On the other hand, due to many kinds of compulsions and many bad habits, people nowadays have the habit of staying awake till late at night. If you are also one of them, then be careful because spoiling your sleep at night can also be the cause of cancer. This has come to light in a research. Actually, one of our hormones is responsible for this. Due to this hormone, our biological clock gets disturbed. When the biological clock gets disturbed, then the risk of breast, colon, ovaries and prostate cancer increases manifold. Not only this, it affects the entire body.

Melatonin brings sleep
Director of Oncology Department and Cancer Specialist at Sarvodaya Hospital, New Delhi Dr. Dinesh Pendhakarkar He told that melatonin is a hormone. Melatonin hormone is released more at night. It comes out from the brain and relaxes the whole body and pushes it into the depth of sleep. This hormone is released more when it becomes dark. Unfortunately, nowadays most people stay bathed in milky light till late at night. Due to this, the production of melatonin hormone has started decreasing. The function of the melatonin hormone is not only to induce sleep but it also controls the circadian rhythm of the body. If the circadian rhythm is disturbed, it causes disturbance in the entire body. Studies have found that in the body There is a direct link between melatonin levels and colorectal, prostate, breast, gastric, ovarian, lung and oral cancer. Actually, when the production of melatonin is released at night, it is the normal time to sleep or fall asleep, but if for some reason you do not sleep properly, then the amount of melatonin in the body starts decreasing. This promotes many types of cancer. Therefore, the risk of cancer is increased in people who do night shift jobs.

This is how it attacks cancer
The study found that there is a direct relationship between melatonin hormone and cancer. Melatonin is inactive in daylight but its production increases in the dark. Melatonin activates the immune response against cancer due to which it destroys cancer cells, this reduces metastasis i.e. the ability of cancer to spread in the body. The biggest thing is that melatonin repairs the damage in DNA inside the cells. Actually, cancer cells grow when the DNA starts breaking and scattering. Taking advantage of this, cancer cells start growing and spreading. If melatonin is produced properly, it immediately repairs the DNA breakage. This is the reason why cancer is also treated with melatonin therapy nowadays.

What to do for sleep
Dr. Dinesh Pendharkar said that it is most important for us that the circadian rhythm of the body works properly. Try to sleep for seven to eight hours every day. Good and deep sleep is necessary. Switch off the lights of the room before sleeping and do not use the mobile at all because the blue light emitted from it not only damages the eyes but also upsets the production of melatonin. Create a good sleeping environment in the room, because along with the quantity of sleep, its quality also matters a lot. Create an environment in which the room is peaceful, has low light and feels relaxed.
