Patna. A senior JDU leader on Wednesday claimed that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar knew that allies would be ‘humiliated’ by RJD president Lalu Prasad, hence he broke the alliance with him. Nitish Kumar’s party JDU’s chief spokesperson and Legislative Councilor Neeraj Kumar made this claim while referring to RJD’s attack on Congress. He said that ‘Congress has been a reliable ally of RJD, although due to the alliance it has lost its support base in the last few years. Recently, Congress increased its vote share in the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections, when we were also a part of that alliance.
The JDU leader asked, ‘What kind of alliance is this between RJD and Congress that RJD is giving party tickets to people as per its wish and is not caring at all about the interests of Congress.’ Surprised by RJD president Lalu Prasad’s grand alliance unilaterally giving party tickets to candidates on about a dozen seats in Bihar without any collective announcement of seat sharing, the Congress is hoping that the RJD will address its concerns. The seats for which Prasad has given ticket include Aurangabad and Purnia seat. Congress wanted to field former MP Nikhil Kumar from Aurangabad while it had assured ticket to Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav from Purnia.
Nitish already had the idea
From Purniya Lok Sabha seat, RJD has assured ticket to Bima Bharti who switched sides from JDU. Neeraj Kumar said that ‘It is not without reason that our leader Nitish Kumar was demanding early seat sharing in the ‘India’ alliance. He had sensed RJD’s plan to humiliate its allies. So he taught him a lesson. The JDU leader was hinting towards breaking Kumar’s ties with the RJD-led grand alliance and forming a new NDA government in Bihar.
Lok Sabha Election: 8th list of Congress candidates released, no ticket to Supriya Shrinet from Maharajganj.
RJD will be taught a lesson by its allies
He said, ‘Now it is up to Congress to show whether it has spine or not. Rahul Gandhi has undertaken a nationwide padyatra and has become the first leader to do so since the 1990s. The JDU leader said that in the last Lok Sabha elections, only Congress was successful in winning one seat in Bihar while RJD could not win even a single seat. He said, ‘It is hoped that RJD will be taught a lesson by its allies in the Lok Sabha elections. Even if this does not happen, the people of Bihar will teach a lesson to this party. Meanwhile, RJD and Congress leaders claimed that the seat sharing of the Grand Alliance will be announced in an ‘amicable manner’. He was referring to the joint statement of Tejashwi Yadav and Bihar Congress State President Akhilesh Prasad Singh in Delhi on Tuesday in which they had said that the candidates would be formally announced upon their return to Patna.
