The Bharatiya Janata Party has registered a spectacular victory in both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha. The BJP formed the government in the state with a majority and ousted Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President Naveen Patnaik, who was the CM of the state for a long time, from power. Let us tell you that the BJD used to be with the BJP in most matters in Parliament. However, now after the election results, the BJD has decided to go against the BJP-led NDA government in Parliament. Regarding this, Naveen Patnaik has given important guidelines to his Rajya Sabha MPs.
Special instructions from Naveen Patnaik
Naveen Patnaik held a meeting with nine Rajya Sabha members of the party on Monday. He has instructed the MPs to play the role of a vibrant and strong opposition during the Rajya Sabha session starting from June 27. Patnaik has asked the MPs to raise issues related to the interests of the state in Parliament in a proper manner.
What happened in the meeting?
BJD leader in Rajya Sabha Sasmit Patra said that this time the Biju Janata Dal MPs will not be limited to speaking on various issues in Parliament. He said that if the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre ignores the interests of Odisha, they are also ready to agitate. He said that the MPs will also raise the issue of poor mobile connectivity and low number of bank branches in the state.
Now there is no support for BJP
Sasmit Patra said that the nine MPs will work as a strong opposition in the Rajya Sabha. He said that now there will be no support to the BJP, we will only play the role of opposition. We can go to any extent to protect the interests of Odisha. He further said that there is no question of supporting the BJP.
