New Delhi. Now no MP in Lok Sabha will be able to speak or raise any slogan just before or after taking oath. To prevent saying anything other than that during oath, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has added a new section in the Speaker’s instructions for some matters related to the functioning of the House.
The Speaker has amended rule 389 of the rules of procedure and conduct of work in the Lok Sabha. The new rule states that the member of Parliament will take oath or affirmation and sign it only according to the oath format prescribed in the third schedule of the Constitution of India. The new rule further states that apart from this, he will not use any word or expression of his own or make any comment while taking the oath. That is, now any MP who will take oath of office in the Lok Sabha will only read the oath part and then sign the register and go and sit at his seat.
Actually, this time when the MPs were being sworn in in the Lok Sabha, the opposition MPs said Jai Samvidhan after taking the oath. At the same time, AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi said Jai Palestine. After Owaisi said Jai Palestine, Ghaziabad’s BJP MP Atul Garg raised the slogans of Dr. Hedgewar Zindabad, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Zindabad and Narendra Modi Zindabad after taking the oath. At the same time, Bareilly’s BJP MP Chhatrapal Gangwar raised the slogan Jai Hindu Rashtra after taking the oath. There was a lot of uproar in the Lok Sabha on the issue of these slogans. At the same time, when Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said Jai Samvidhan after taking the oath, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla commented on this that when one is taking oath in the name of the Constitution, then what is the meaning of saying Jai Samvidhan later. There was also rhetoric on this.
