Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday made a sarcastic remark in response to a question by Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy in the Lok Sabha. Amit Shah said that no state in the country would want to adopt the West Bengal model. TMC MP Roy had asked a question related to left wing extremism during the Question Hour in the House. Referring to the elimination of left wing extremism in West Bengal, Roy asked whether the central government would implement this model in other states?
Modi government has no problem
On this question of TMC MP Saugata Roy, Amit Shah said, ‘If any state does well, then the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has no problem in implementing its example, but no state would want the West Bengal model to be adopted there.’
53 percent reduction in incidents of left wing extremism
At the same time, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, while answering questions, said that incidents of left wing extremism have decreased by 53 percent in the last 10 years. There has also been a 72 percent decrease in the cases of death of security forces in these incidents. He said that people involved in left wing extremism activities do not believe in the constitution and democracy of this country. They want to grab power through weapons.
Insurgency remained confined to 42 districts
Nityanand Rai said in Parliament that in 2010, 96 districts were affected by left wing extremism, but due to the efforts of the Modi government, left wing extremism was reduced to 42 districts in 2023. Rai said, the impact of the efforts made in 10 years is clearly visible. Left wing extremists will be eliminated in the coming days.
