Dhaka: The situation in Bangladesh is changing rapidly. Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin has appointed Nobel Prize winner Mohammad Yunus as the head of the interim government of Bangladesh. The President’s press secretary gave this information on Tuesday night. This decision was taken in a meeting between President Shahabuddin and the coordinators of the ‘student movement’. The chiefs of the three armed forces were also present in this meeting. The press secretary said that the names of other members of the interim government will be decided after consultations with various political parties.
Who is Muhammad Yunus?
Mohammad Yunus was born on 28 June 1940. He is a social entrepreneur, a banker, an economist and a social leader from Bangladesh. Yunus received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for his special efforts to eradicate poverty. Yunus founded the Grameen Bank in 1983 which provides small loans to poor people. Bangladesh received worldwide appreciation for microcredit through its Grameen Bank. Due to this, a large number of people in Bangladesh were able to raise their standard of living. In 2009, he was awarded the United States Presidential Medal of Freedom. In 2010, he was given the Congressional Gold Medal. Along with this, he has received many other awards.

Meanwhile, the death toll in anti-government protests in Bangladesh rose to 440 on Tuesday. According to local media reports, more than 100 people have died in the incidents of violence that took place after Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister on Monday and left the country.
