Noida. The Noida Cybercrime Police Station, while exposing an incident of cyber fraud, succeeded in returning the entire amount of Rs 1 crore 55 lakh to the victim. This amount was fraudulently taken from the victim on 6 December 2024. A case was filed on December 19 at the cybercrime police station in this case.
Police have said that the victim’s company had approached a UK vendor on 6 December 2024 to receive a raw material. Meanwhile, an unknown person prepared fake email ID of that vendor and cheated and cheated about Rs 1.55 crore in foreign currency.
The victim had sent the amount to his bank by giving a boucher. Later, after receiving email from the real vendor, he came to know about the fraud he had. The real vendor had stated in the email that he had not received the payment.
The victim then came to know that someone had sent a fishing email by replacing the domain of the vendor’s email ID, which led to the incident of fraud. The Cybercrime Police Station of Noida took action on the basis of electronic surveillance and technical evidence. The police, after trying tirelessly, succeeded in returning the entire amount of Rs 1 crore 55 lakh in the victim’s bank account on Friday.
After this incident, the cybercrime police have made some important suggestions to avoid fishing emails. Any person can survive by taking precautions related to cyber security from this type of fraud.
To avoid fishing e -mail, suggestions have been made not to verify the sender, do not rely on the mail from unknown or suspected e -mail address. Check grammar and spelling, frequent mistakes occur in fishing e -mail. Beware of sudden requests, if an e -mail is seeking immediate password updates, payment or confidential information, be cautious. Do not click on the suspected link, hover on it before clicking on any suspect link and check whether it is pointing to the real website.
According to the police, do not open the attachment, if the source is suspicious, avoid opening the attachment, as it may contain malware.
