Lucknow. Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav said that if a film like ‘The Kashmir Files’ can be made, then there should be a film on the Lakhimpur Kheri violence of October 2021 as well. Akhilesh’s remarks came in response to a question from journalists on the sidelines of a function in Sitapur on Wednesday evening.
Akhilesh said, “Your Sitapur is the neighboring district of Lakhimpur Kheri. If a film is made on Kashmir, then a film can be made on Lakhimpur Kheri incident too.”
Violence erupted in Lakhimpur Kheri district on October 3, 2021, when an SUV allegedly belonging to the son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra rammed into four farmers and a journalist.
Three others were killed in the violence that followed.
The violence took place during a protest against three agricultural laws.
This was Akhilesh’s first visit outside Lucknow after the recently held Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, in which the SP won 111 seats, while two of its allies (Rashtriya Lok Dal and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party) together won 14 seats.
