ISRO EOS-08 Launching Live: The celebration of Jashn-e-Azadi is going to double now. India is eager to create another history in space. ISRO, which showed its might to the world by sending Chandrayaan-3 to the moon, is going to make another blast today i.e. on 16 August. With the launch of ISRO’s new satellite, India will now be able to hear the heartbeat of the earth. If ISRO’s mission is successful, then India will get information about disasters on time. Yes, ISRO i.e. Indian Space Research Organization will launch its latest Earth Observation Satellite EOS-08 today on 16 August at 9:17 am. It will be launched through the third and final developmental flight of Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)-D3.
The countdown for the launch of India’s small launch vehicle SSLV, carrying the Earth Observation Satellite (EOS-08) and startup company Space Rickshaw’s SR-0 satellite, has begun. According to ISRO, the countdown for the satellite launch began at 2.30 am on Friday. This will be the third and final flight of SSLV in the development phase. After this, the rocket will come into full operational mode.
The 500 kg carrying capacity SSLV will take off from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh at around 9:17 am on Friday morning carrying the 175.5 kg microsatellite EOS-08. The life span of the satellite has been fixed as one year. According to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the proposed mission will complete the SSLV development project. After this, it will be used for missions of Indian industry and public sector company NewSpace India Limited.
The SSLV rocket is capable of launching mini, micro or nano satellites (10 to 500 kg mass) into an orbit of 500 km. The three stages of the rocket are powered by solid fuel while the last Velocity Trimming Module (VTM) uses liquid fuel. Just 13 minutes after take-off, the rocket will release EOS-08 into its orbit and about three minutes later SR-0 will separate. Both satellites will separate from the rocket at an altitude of 475 km.
For Chennai-based space startup Space Rickshaw, SR-0 will be its first satellite. Space Rickshaw co-founder and Space Kidz India founder-CEO Srimati Kesan told IANS that “we will build six more satellites on a commercial basis”. Meanwhile, ISRO said that the primary objectives of the EOS-08 mission include designing and developing a micro satellite, building payload equipment compatible with the micro satellite bus and incorporating new technologies required for future operational satellites.
Why is this mission important?
This mission of ISRO is special for India as well as the whole world. With its success, India will be able to listen to the heartbeat of the earth. This will provide timely information about natural disasters. This satellite will provide information about earth movements such as earthquake, tsunami or other natural disasters. The mission life of this spacecraft is one year. Its mass is about 175.5 kg and it generates about 420 watts of power. ISRO said that the satellite interfaces with the SSLV-D3/IBL-358 launch vehicle.
