Guwahati: Outsiders will no longer get government jobs in Assam. The Assam government is going to implement the domicile policy very soon. Preparations are being made for this in full swing. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the ‘domicile’ policy will be implemented in the state within the next two months. Under this, only people born in the state will be considered eligible for government jobs.
According to TIO news, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday, ‘The state government has given jobs to more than 97,000 people in a transparent manner since May 2021. This has created an environment that creates trust.’ He further said, ‘When the list of recruitments is published, it will prove how local people have been given priority.’ Let us tell you that in the 2021 assembly elections, the BJP had promised to give one lakh government jobs to the youth of the state in its manifesto.
In which states is the domicile policy applicable?
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma gave the example of Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Gujarat in favor of implementing the domicile policy. He said that in these states, ‘domicile’ policy is already in place for recruitment in government jobs so that local candidates do not have to be deprived of jobs. He said that in Bengal, reading and writing Bengali has been made compulsory for some posts. He stressed that for the last three years his government has been working to protect caste, land and wealth.
Why did Himanta mention Nehru?
Himanta Sarma further said, ‘Riding on the wave of the country’s freedom movement, Jawaharlal Nehru became the Prime Minister for the third time. At that time, Congress got the support of the people of the country after independence. But PM Modi got huge support from the whole country and he has become the Prime Minister of the country for the third consecutive time.’ He said, ‘Congress is celebrating after winning 99 seats. This is not out of 100, but out of 542. Is 240 bigger or 99? Maybe 99 is bigger in Pakistan’s mathematics.’
