The country’s first International Maritime Service Cluster is going to be set up in Gujarat International Financial Tech (GIFT) City. This cluster is being set up by the Gujarat Maritime Board, under which port service, shipping and logistics services will be provided. This Maritime Cluster will be developed as an eco system, which will further enable the proximity and availability of the participants.
Tapan Ray, MD and Group CEO, GIFT City, said that with this cluster, India will establish economic self-reliance and its identity. Let us tell you that GIFT City is the first operational Smart City and International Financial Services Center in the country. GMB’s Vice Chairman and CEO Avantika Singh described this project as the country’s first maritime cluster and said that with its help, many measures will be found to increase self-reliance in this region.
GIFT City has state-of-the-art infrastructure and world-class banking facilities and institutions, which will encourage economic viability, collaboration and business opportunities for the cluster. Along with this, Gujarat Maritime University, a premier institute of maritime education, is also being established in GIFT City. The cluster will also act as an alternative dispute resolution center in the maritime and shipping sector, ensuring economic benefits and ease of doing business for those involved in the maritime sector.
